Use Your Blog to Educate

online marketing, content writing, blogIt can be awfully tempting to use all of that available real estate on your blog to compose another sales pitch to try and secure a sale, but that isn’t the wisest strategy for online marketing success.  As a business person your first inclination is to sell your product. But too much promotion can have the opposite effect on your business blog traffic.

If you’ve got an e-commerce site set up, it provides current customers and prospects with the opportunity to make a direct inquiry about your product or to place an order.  Using your business blog as a second online storefront will cause you to miss the opportunity to educate your prospects and establish yourself as an expert in your niche.

Your business blog provides you with a unique opportunity to regularly provide useful information to prospects.  You can answer questions, provide valuable solutions and engage in two-way conversations regarding specific issues that commonly come up within your niche – all of which will attract additional readers.

Establishing yourself as a “go to” resource by producing regular educational content on your blog will make it much easier to generate sales when the time comes for your readers to invest in a product.  Your approach to online marketing will have created the trust and confidence necessary to convert the lion’s share of prospects into customers when they are in need of a product or service that you provide.
